What it means to be a Reformed Christian, is to place a God-centered approach to theology. RC Sproul notes that "The strict focus of Reformed Theology, is on theology, on the knowledge of the true God". It is a systematic approach to Christianity (derived from scripture) which poses that all other truths about reality and humanity can be found by studying the nature of God found in His Word. Reformed Christians also have a significant tie to the Protestant Reformation which occurred in the 15th century. In the wake of widespread corruption in both Protestantism and Catholicism, the reformers sought to go back to the original source, God, and to truly know Him from His Word. While there is much more to go into, a basic summary of Reformation-era truths taught from scripture include the Five Solas. The Five Solas include Sola Scriptura (Scripture Alone), Sola Christus (Christ Alone), Sola Gratia (Grace Alone), Sola Fide (Faith Alone), and Soli Deo Gloria (Glory of God Alone). These concepts greatly influenced the growth of Reformed Theology, as God's word was taught as the sole ultimate authority, salvation was made clear that it was by grace through faith in Christ's atoning work alone, and that all things work ultimately for the Glory of God. In summary, as another pastor put it, All of Christ, for All of Life.
